How to Lie About Your Stats, and Mislead People

A concise guide to lying about your Medium stats

Since Natalie Frank, Ph.D. (Clinical Psychology) changed the rules on Medium, I have been scrambling to write up my “Making Money on Medium” post for this month.

The suggested “How I made money on Medium” narrative is probably not going to work for me since I am going to make about $10 this month, and other people are writing about making thousands. So I started writing about “How I intend to make money on Medium”, but then again I realized with my goal of $10 for the month, nobody is going to read that article either.

So I decided to go ahead and lie outright. You see the thing about stats is, it is awesome until you compare your stats with someone else's. Then you realize you suck. So my goal here is to lie convincingly about my stats so I can make other people feel bad about themselves.

I can say, for example, I made $512 in October. I could say something outrageous like $15,000 instead, but then it’ll be too obvious that it is a lie. You need…
